National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah hopes peace will return to Jammu and Kashmir

National Conference (NC) leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah have said that he wishes peace to return to the Union Territory so that all communities can live without any fear. Recalling the communal harmony that existed in the erstwhile state before the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in the 1990s, he said, "There was a time when we were together and then a wave came and we parted."

Abdullah said this after releasing the book 'When the Heart Speaks-Memoirs of a Cardiologist' authored by Dr. Upendra Kaul, a cardiologist belonging to the Kashmiri Pandit community, on Saturday. National Conference Vice President and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also participated in the program. The NC president said that he found the book very interesting.

He said that it has given information about the life journey of Dr. Kaul as well as the communal harmony that existed before the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley. Abdullah said Kashmiri Muslims remained mute spectators at the time of the exodus of the Pandits, as "they were scared". "Those relations have not yet been restored," he said. I don't know when it will be restored. We pray for the return of the days when we all lived in the valley without any fear.
